What is a Jewish Divorce?
When we think about divorce, we usually focus on the classic issues of marital property, support, and parenting. For many couples, however, there is also the issue of a Jewish Divorce. A Jewish Divorce is the same as a regular divorce with some major additional considerations that affect a Jewish family. Examples are tuition and day school, Synagogue membership, the bar and bat mitzvahs, the “get” and division of the kids for Jewish holidays. As with a civil divorce, a Jewish Divorce understands the importance of making the children’s needs the most important priority.
